Check with the dealer. If the present steering wheel and column are not factory wired, I wouldn't go for it because the labor for the wheel replacement and the wiring will be too high. The next best thing is to salvage a steering wheel and column from a damaged Volt and do it yourself or with a mechanic. As posted by others, use gloves or a heated cover.I have a 2017 LT. I live in southern California. I use my heated steering wheel a lot. All winter long. It often gets down to a blustery 45 degrees here during the winter.Check with the dealer. There is one one: move south and drive warm all year, as I do.

BTW, I grew up in Michigan, so I am well aware of what sub-zero temperatures feel like. Still remember one week in January 1994 when it was -18 with wind chill of -40. Not a fun week. My college was closed for the entire week, but we were pretty much stuck at home so ...LOL winter in Southern California.
I just got my 2017 Volt. I only see myself using the heated steering wheel when its in the 20s. I love cold weather.
To add the heated steering function, you'd have to at least get a steering wheel with the heating function. I bet from there, its just plug and play. My 2 cents.
any luck? i guess all the 12v going to the steering wheel goes to something dedicated... so the comfort package must have an extra 12v going to the wheel for heat.. i wonder if the LT and premier have different part numbers for the clockspring..Late response to this, but I am in the midst of replacing my LT's steering wheel with a heated gen 2 steering wheel. After finally getting it on and testing the heated function, it doesn't turn on. Any ideas? I wanna see if theres anything else I can do before I return it and pop the old one back. Thanks in advance.
