UPDATE; I GOT IT IN THE MAIL TODAY AND IT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE.

I was looking for filters for my 2016 and searched the part # from the owners manual and found that all Volts use the same air filters. I have ordered the K & N # 33-2464 for the 2016 Volt on ebay. The listing says they also fit all years ELR as well.

According to the auto parts store, 2011-15 takes an AC A3148C, while 2016-17 takes an A3217C.

Hi Jim,

Let us know when you get your K&N filter and that it works. I'm anxious to get mine too..

Will do. I am still not so patiently waiting for Window deflectors with no luck.

Gen 1 and Gen 2 do not have the same engine air filters. El Dobro listed the correct filters per AC Delco online catalog.
Picture shows underhood on my 2017 with the orange rimmed air filter in the air box. Filter from my 2015 (black rim) is to the right on the engine cover in front of the oil fill.
Correct your 2016-7 owners manual.

K&N 33-2464 fits the 2011 - 2015 Volt, 2014-2016 ELR (Gen 1)

The K&N site does not appear to show a filter for the 2016/2017 Volt just yet

That K&N filter will do nothing for you that an OEM filter can do except lighten your wallet and let more dirt into your engine.

There have been problems caused by the oil on the filter getting on the mass air flow sensor.

In at least one case I know of (not a Volt) the entire drive train warranty was voided because of that.

Six cars using K & N for over 15 years never had a problem and only had to buy one filter for each car. Also this one was $26.95 shipped , I think my wallet can handle it. My 2012 Volt has over 60,000 miles no issues that you speak of.

Simply not the case unless the user over oils the filter.

Agreed. I've been running K&N filters on my vehicles since the early 90s without issue. This includes about 250K on my 2000 GMC Sierra.

I have zero interest in bothering with a K&N on my Volt considering how infrequently I use the gas engine.

Interesting that it shows the Gen 1 Part number in the 2016 manual.

Engine Air Cleaner/Filter 20871244 A3148C
I checked my PDF version of the 2016 manual, found that was the first printing... so I went online to check the latest printing on Chevy's site (second printing) - then went to rockauto.com and it listed the A3217C for the 2016 Volt.

The correct 2016-17 air filter P/N is 23437180.

Glad I found this thread. GM seems to have listed the wrong part number in the Volt manuals for 2016 and 2017. Hope that's the only error. :-/
