The volt is the right place to start with an electric drive train. Going down the road though, electric drive trains are going to surpass the performance (specific power to weight) of the V8 IC engine with a mechanical transmission. Don't believe me? Check out NEDRA (National Electric Drag Racing Association). Remember that most of these folks are getting these results using lead acid batteries! Anyway, who out there could see there way to driving a high performance electric car? Should it be one of the classic GM go fast cars, or does it need to be a new model?
Me I want a Vett with 700 ft/lb's of quite electric thunder! In electric blue of course. "I'm sorry officer I would have slowed down earlier if I had known your Crown Vic only had a 4.6 in it."

I think GM will probably create a new vehicle to test market a high performance electric drivetrain, and if it proves successful, then it will migrate to the Camero, and eventually the Corvette.

Wouldn't that be something if GM rolled out a vehicle that had better 0-60 and/or 1/4 mile times than the Corvette, just to see how many gearheads migrate from their flagship?
