The mirror should be the same unless the previous owner had the wind buffeting modification applied: http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread.php?13750-Wind-Buffeting-Modification-Photos
As for the color, Cyber Gray (2011-2013) and Ashen Gray (2014-2015) are pretty similar, but they're not exact matches. One of the fenders on my car is Cyber Gray and the rest of the car is Ashen Gray. If you look closely you can tell a difference especially if you focus where the door and the fender meet. It is much harder to tell a difference where either the hood or the bumper meet the fender. I think this likely due to differences with how the light hits the panels. This effect may occur when comparing a mirror to the body, but I cannot tell you that with any certainty.
To my untrained eye Cyber Gray is slightly lighter and has more blueish/green metal flakes than Ashen Gray. Here is a link where others compare the same colors, but on the Camaro: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=264229.
As for why they changed the color, I was told back in 2012 by a sales person that GM had to find a new source for the pigment in their gray color due to a supply chain disruption related to the Fukushima Tsunami and nuclear reactor meltdown. I'm not sure how credible that information is, so take it for what it's worth.
