My volt is not taking a charge with either 220 or 110. The yellow light comes on and goes out. The dash says not able to charge. I replaced the charge port, but same problem.

After scanning with my obd2link I got the following codes.

P1EE6

I cleared the codes and scanned again and got

C0242 pending.

I don't think the 12V would be creating the problem, but it's what, 9 year old? Can't hurt to replace it and see. Otherwise, I'm think the junction relays or associated electronic in the battery pack.

I've purchased a vcx nano to help diagnose. Noother codes found, but it seems that the charger is not seeing voltage. Does anyone have a pinout for the charger so I can see if there is an open circuit? Has anyone had experience changing the onboard charger?

I had the P1EE6 code on my 2013 last February (2022). Took it to dealer who checked it. Receipt says;" Verify receptacle on vehicle OK Checked connections and internal fuzes after system check and reset check charger working OK at this time". "Could not duplicate refer to tsb 12-08-45-001a Device power ciruit voltage below threshold: The first thing to do is to check for low A/C supply voltage. If the circuit is not dedicated with good wall plug, charging should be done at reduced rate" Total labor and parts $185
Got it home and it worked fine. So they blamed my charger/electrical system which has worked fine for the last 10 years.
Maybe there was some power problem that freaked the volt out, bottom line Chevy reset it, fixed problem.
Until today! I am getting the "not able to charge message" again, yellow light comes on goes out.. stumbled on this thread looking for a quick fix without having to return to dealer.

Take it to a public charge station, see if it charges there.

My 2011 had this problem about 5 years ago while still under warranty. The dealership pulled out the parts cannon and started with the charge port, to no avail. Next they replaced the on board charger which is located under the RF fender. Bingo! Problem fixed.

Yeah, thats what I'm guessing it will take right now. I could check the wiring first, but need to take off the entire front bumper for access. I could also try programing the charger, but I'm doubtful that would help.

It sounds like service mode when the 12 volt battery gets low enough the car gets mad and goes into service mode and to get it out close all doors and lids then lock it and come back in 5 hours no joke then plug it in.

Well, the battery is not a 12-volt battery it's special to the car 14 volts and that explains a lot what does the instrument cluster say? If you have a battery charger that can put a charge on the battery to bring the car battery above 14 volts that let me start charging the main battery, I tell you this, but my charger is on a dimmer switch so by watching my multi meter I control the charging output to dial it in so be careful.

Followup - Took it to Chevy - they said it is the on board charger. $2500 for the part and it will take weeks to get. It may have been a coincidence, but I ran the preheat option right before the on board charger died (it heats both seats, runs the defrosters, heats the interior... maybe too much strain for an old charger?). I don't want to go thru this expense with the 10 year old propulsion battery a ticking time-bomb. So I will keep it in hold mode and switch to mountain mode when it gets low as I contemplate my next vehicle. Not sure what the implications are of driving the volt around without ever being able to plug in... will it work?

Should work. You can try Mountain Mode to charge it.

Not sure how handy you are, but the part is around $400 used and a VCX nano and subscription cost me about $300. The part is fairly easy to replace.

No its a 12V battery just like any other car. 14V is the charging voltage in all 12V systems. The only really thing special is the AGM construction, which is typical for premium car batteries.

I had the same issue. First thing I did was replace the charge socket because online that can go wrong but it did not fix it. Dealer replaced the on board charger completely no charge ( I mean no cost to me, it does now charge as new.) I did have to wait a few months for the part. You can buy the used onboard charger on eBay for about $1000 from what I recall.
