2014 No cabin heat

Would it be hard to believe since I picked up my car new that I never used the heat? I always park indoors and for the first time in November I parked outside for a night and could not defrost the window. The aux coolant pump was bad but since I have 51000 miles it is not covered under warranty. I opened up the pump and it looks like it never spun. Don't you think they should cover it?

Without knowing what the issue is we can't possibly comment on what should or shouldn't be covered.
Out of warranty is out of warranty.
Thanks a lot for your support that was really useful and enlightening!
Are you sure its the pump? If the software didn't tell the pump to turn on, you could have the same result. If you shut off the car for a while and try it again, did it start working?

What year is your car?
How much is the dealer quoting you to repair your car?
Fuse OK? #13 in under hood fusebox as I recall. Since you've already started doing surgery on your Volt, do you have a service manual? Somebody here had one available for download. Or did the dealer replace the pump and you dissected the bad one? Guess I should clarify that before going any further!
GM also has deals where they split the costs on repairs if it's out of warranty.

This is on a case by case basis
A local dealer tallied hundreds of dollars in repairs that did not resolve problems with my Volt, while a big city dealer solved several problems under warranty with no charge other than the costs of travel. So, car repair costs have huge differences depending on whom you ask for help. Guess who gets my future business.

If you opened the pump up yourself, it would likely now not be under warranty. You could have had the dealer look at it and possibly been under the Voltec warranty.
its a 2014 They put the new pump on and I have heat. I would like to see if this is a common problem that GM should consider covering past the 36000
Quote was $500.00 . I had a coupon and they gave me a 4 volt owner discount and it came out at $403.00
That's what I thought they should consider
Do you know if all contact is done through the volt advisor team?
Does this have any impact or relation to the batteries TMS'? If so I would think it would be covered by the Voltec warranty.
We've seen heating issues but I think more with heater coolant control modules before June of 2013. So not really for 2014 MY cars (but I could be wrong). Don't remember anything about pumps and the heating problem was intermittent IIRC. If you can find a TSB outlining the problem you have a better case, but a lot of this is just case by case.

Too late for this now, but going forward I know that on average you will lose money on an extended service plan but they aren't that expensive and can limit your downside on the repair front.
4414010 Heater Coolant Pump Replacement

Not covered under Voltec warranty.

Yep, and you don't know unless you try.
There does seem to be a lot of heater coolant pump replacements recently between here and FB, but of course, it's the people that have issues that complain. We have what, 100,000 Volts here in NA, and how many heater complaints? Mine is pumping heat nicely. And I did complain the first winter. There is a bit of learning to live with Volt.
My heat in my 2014 worked fine the first 2 years, but this winter I could see my breath when I was driving home from work. I took it into the dealership and they told me they need to order a new pump and that it would be covered. The problem now is getting the part ordered. No dealership has the part and they are having a problem getting it ordered from GM. It's been over 2 weeks, but at least I have a rental to bum around in.
