I purchased a 2013 volt recently and each time I precondition the car the check engine light comes on and I get a P1E00 code. The first time I preconditioned while plugged to my Level 1 EVSE and the second time has been while using a Level 2 (Juicebox Pro 40). Otherwise, the car is charging and running fine and the light usually goes off after a full charge or two. I have read on this forum that there was a software update to the Battery Charger Control Module to rectify this but I have spoken to two volt specialist who have stated that there have been no software updates to address this. Also, I am getting a POCD2 code. Any suggestions?
My car has had the software update for delay departure, auto crash response, and to the power inverter module. Are there other updates that I should have?

A quick search indicates that the POCD2 code is related to the charge door motor timing. Has the charge door been getting stuck?
I may be wrong on this but, I think the P1E00 is a generic code that just shows that a MIL was commanded to be turned on.
If there is no obvious cause for the charge door getting stuck, then you may need a new charge door assembly.

What's the code that accompanies P1E00? That's just a generic "illuminate the CEL" type code.

P1E00 is a generic code, it is always accompanied by a one or more other codes that have more information about the issue encountered.

Generally speaking, if the check engine light goes off after a couple trips with the car, you're probably all set. But knowing the other codes would be helpful.

You could also try to lubricate your charge door to see if that stops the light from illuminating.

Hi ClarksonCote - I got those same codes a couple of times. I was notified of the codes by my insurance company, Metromile, through their OBD-II device that I have plugged in. The car itself didn't seem to do anything but it makes me concerned that something could happen in the future. I called my Chev dealer to see if they could tell me if those software updates that you cited were done on my car. They just said it's not a recall so they would have to do a diagnostic to see if the updates are needed. Is there another way I can tell if the software needs updating so I don't have to pay the dealer $$. Is the dealer the only one who can update software? I assume they would charge me to update if it's not a recall issue. Thanks!
