We only got one key with our '13 Volt a few months ago, and I recently learned that I actually could manage to lock that key in the car. 😜 I only had to wait for 3 1/2 hours for AAA to get it out. We bought a second key and are planning to program it as soon as we can get the blade cut. In reading the owner's manual about how to do it, we have one question, and we would appreciate help from some of you who have actually done this.
It says (for US cars) if you have at least one recognized transmitter, you can add more, but notes that "When the replacement transmitter is programmed to this vehicle, all remaining transmitters must also be reprogrammed."
To do it you need to have the car off and have all the keys in the car. It says the steps are...
1) put the old one in the cup holder
2)-5) several steps to program the first transmitter
Then it says...
"To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps3-5."
Am I right in assuming that "additional transmitters" includes the old (recognized) one that's been sitting in the cupholder? The instructions aren't entirely clear on that.
Thanks!
