Hi all.

I'm trying to program a FOB for my 2013 Volt with a used key from another Volt.
The OM instructions include turning the key in the lock 10 times... which I clearly can't do with a key from a different car.
Do I need to get the key part replaced and cut to my car?
Is there a way around this step so I can make the fob part useful even if the key itself is not?
Thanks for your help.

In my owners manual (I believe it is) for a Gen 1, in the US you need 1 key to reprogram a second one (spare). In Canada you need 2 keys to reprogram a spare (third key). Must be the same for Gen2. Just one of the differences between US/Canada laws like the difference in procedures in programing the Homelink due to the 2 second broadcast limit in Canada.
