2013 Chevy Volt will not start. OBD codes P1E00-00 and P0AFA-00

Bought it 4 months ago and the car ran great and then after 1 week, would not start nor except a charge. gave error codes P1E00-00 and P0AFA-00
cleared the codes with an OBD reader and it ran fine for 4 months until I got the errors again. I cannot clear the errors this time.
A Dealer said Cell#2 had low voltage (my OBD reader says its fine) and that He will charge me 20k to replace the battery for me.

Check the 12V in the back before you drop 20k.

I would have thought the Chevy Dealer would have checked that, but They did seem incompetent. Just wondering. Will removing the connection from the 12v clear the error codes? When I do that with a regular car the check engine light goes away. Wondering if that will clear the P1E00-00?

Hello everyone and I am not sure if it will be too late to receive this message because my Volt 2013 has had similiar symptoms as mentioned above and it stopped turning on (except for dashboard ) etc. However, listen very closely, the dealership in Orlando Florida Autonation Orlando has quoted me $22,600 to replace the battery? does this sound right? someone please help!!

Thank you Steverino! Giving up at this point. Junker is getting the car for cheap. GM Chevrolet and Autonation in Orlando Florida won the battle :( I'm going to miss my car so much.

Disconnecting the 12V battery will not clear the codes. Some code readers may be able to clear the codes temporarily, some will not. I have seen at least one post where a forum member reported that they found a cheap scanner that cleared codes that are tradtionally considered only resettable by the dealer or using VCX nano, and the poster indicated that they did not come back. I do not know if they are the same codes you are reporting (and I do not know if they they did not come back after a while). May be worth some more research. In any case, the codes were caused by something, and that something likely needs to be fixed... P1e00 just is a request to turn on the CEL. P0afa indicates that the entire HV battery is at too low of voltage or one (or more) cells within the battery are too low. If you can get the codes cleared, there is a chance you can continue to operate using HOLD or Mountain mode if you engage it before the battery voltage gets too low. May be able to nurse some more miles out of the battery...

thank you! I can give that a shot before I move forward to sale to junker and if it works, trust me, you will be the 1st to know! thanks so much

Yeah I was able to clear them at one time with a OBD reader. is the VCX nano better? which one do i get? You were right about the 12v clearing the codes. It clears the codes on my old 2009 dodge caravan when I remove the 12v...
The VCX nano is a bit more of a saga to accomplish... see the start of this thread.
The thread is more related to the dreaded "Service High Voltage Charging System", but it will give you an idea of what to buy and how to get the software loaded... I do not think you would need to do the part where you need an SPS subscription, but I may be wrong...

I'm in the same boat. What did the junk yard pay/offer for your car? I'm trying to decide whether to fix or sell.

I see that a non running 2013 Volt just sold on ebay for $2600.00

Well If I can fix it for about 7k or less, the car is work about 14k right now.
