Have a 2013 Chevy Volt: 18K miles per year, 9600 current miles, 31 months remaining.

No longer have long commute to work so don't need the Volt. Great car, averaging 80 mpg and have saved approx. $1350 in gas the last 7 months over our old car.

Payment is $499 month, no money down, $595 Ally transfer fee.

This is interesting. You want to transfer due to a shorter commute? Actually the Volt is BETTER for shorter commutes. If you never have to use gas you will have a mpg of infinity!

Sounds to me like the real reason is the $499 per month lease. Somebody was taken to the cleaners.

Note that the OP's lease is 18k miles per year. 15c/mile overage would add $75/mo to a 12kmi/yr lease.
