If you change to Florida and navigate to somewhere successfully, does it then stay on Florida? I would try that.
2012 Volt Nav system defaults to Washington DC and we live in FL

We bought our 2012 Volt new. Recently, when you enter a new address into the nav system the "state" line now defaults to Washington DC; before, it always showed FL where the car is located/we live. The only other recent change is we did not renew our OnStar subscription...is this related to our current state default issue or is there some other fix to prevent changing the state entry line every time we enter a new address...tks

The system defaults to Washington DC every time you start the car and enter in a new address. It you change the state line to Florida, enter a new address, navigate/reach your destination, enter in a new address, then the default stays on Florida. If you turn off the car, then back on, the system is back to Washington DC.
