Found a previous 2020 post (2012 "Unable to charge" - clicking EVSE, no...)
but Forum recommended I start new due to age.
2012 175k miles. Have always charged at home using portable (120V) charger. My Voltec originally supplied with Volt stopped working couple years ago and I bout replacement on Amazon (Megear Level 1-2). Been working fine up until now. couple days ago got the "unable to charge" notification on Volt display screen. Read posts about possible chargeport replacement as solution, but then took to Chargepoint 240V charger and experienced no issue with Volt accepting the charge. My Megear display lights up all indicators like operating and charging normally when connected (no fault light - pic attached), but appears no "handshake", occurring at the chargeport. Do experienced forum readers think I have a charger issue or chargeport. Yes the Megear product info looks a little sketchy (language conversion etc.), but curious if readers ran into this exact issue with original Voltec unit as well (no charging on Voltec 120V, but no issue on Commercial 240V charging station?)? I can pursue warranty claim with Megear...that may turn out to take too long. Willing to just purchase another, but if issue is chargeport would prefer not to have to pursue both "fixes". It has rained a lot here recently in case that could have caused issue (we charge outside), but again, only issue is either with my Megear unit or 120V charging in general or ???.
Appreciate the review/response.

Is there a correlation between the start of your problem and rain? If so, then how long between your problem arising and charging at 240 Volts? The length of time may have allowed the charge port to have dried out sufficiently to allow charging. Has the problem recurred on the 120 Volt EVSE subsequent to charging at 240 Volts. Do you have access to another EVSE? Please describe the light sequence of the charge indicator light on top of the dash when plugging in the 120 EVSE, as well as the lights on the EVSE itself.

The problem started AFTER the heavy rain, but no issues during the rain. We've had a lot here recently in So Cal. I tried the 120V again at home immediately AFTER the 240V successful charge at Chargepoint, and again experienced no charging on the 120V. No access to another EVSE (I think that's the name for my portable at home 120V charger). But that's a good thought. Have a neighbor couple doors down with a newer volt. Not sure if they are level 1 or 2, but I can check. My only hesitancy would be if for some reason my chargeport contributed to a malfunction of my EVSE (wouldn't want to do that to my neighbor. But no "Fault" indication my EVSE....but again, not totally confident re it's quality/accurate indicator light representation. The EVSE in the pic has red only when not connected and red green blue immediately upon connection. The Volt Dash top light sequence now with EVSE 120V connection at home: the smaller Amber lights up for about 3 seconds upon connection, then goes off.
Thx for the comments and I'll look for your reply.

I don't think that a problem with your car could damage an EVSE. I would try your neighbor. The "handshake" between the car and the old EVSE shows an incomplete electrical connection (yellow light goes out and no green light). I tend to believe that there may be something wrong with your EVSE. Perhaps trying your EVSE with your neighbor's car might be revealing, too. I can't think of a way it could damage a car.

I had this issue with my 2011 some 5-6 years ago and the dealership first changed the charge port to no avail, then ended up changing the on board charger which is located under the RF fender, Bingo problem solved. Repair was under warranty thankfully.

yeah,
I generally scan replies to the OP, but don't necessarily read every word...

Thanks all.
Update: I did speak with my neighbor - and was set to try my Volt with their Charger on Monday (they were out of town), but because of the original rain inquiry, I tried one additional step: We had sunny day, so laid my plug end of charger in the sun - connectors facing the sun. Gave a quick check after 3 hours and got the green light - charging. real test was last night (I reset charging from immediately to my TOU settings (low peak starts at 9p)) - and this morning found that a got a full charge! If we have more sun today, I'll probably repeat for good measure, but looks like problem may be solved. appreciate all the input!

"Solved"? More like "Revealed". How/why did the the moisture get in there?! How will that condition be prevented?

Well, we've had a ton of rain here in So Cal and we always charge outside, so my just be circumstantial....and if I really want to prevent I can charge it inside when we get a similar forecast (solves it for me)...but they are rare...until now. Just got another "atmospheric river" yesterday-tomorrow.....
