The Power Inverter Module (24279726) on my '12 Volt Premium has failed due to an internal coolant leak. The car will run on battery or ICE, and charge, but has a slew of code and there is coolant leaking out of the aux cable.
I provided the dealer with a 'good' used module from a wrecked vehicle and they were able to get all the codes to clear except the car wouldn't start because of a theft code. They finally called GM for help and discovered that this module can only be replaced with a new one from GM. Apparently, the VIN of the vehicle cannot be rewritten/reprogrammed.

Has anyone had this issue or found a workaround?

There is a YouTube video about inverter from Weberauto that takes apart a gen1 inverter. Coolant passage is built into the case where everything else mounts into. If you transfer your old board that contains vin number to the new unit, you should be able to fool your car not to reject the new transplant. Here is the link:
