2012 battery compatable with 2013

273 6
Hi,
I read the 2013 has .5 kwh more than the 2012 battery, but I dropped a 2013 battery took the cover off it and it looks identical to a battery I replaced from a 2012. Even the BECMs look the same. Zone 1, 2 and 3 are identical with stickers of Kwh. I'm tempted to replace this 2013 with the 2012 battery pack system that i have already cell balanced to see if it will work after reprogramming. Has anyone attempted this before with success or is a failure waiting to happen.

Thanks

I wonder if the BECM is worth more than the battery ?

There's a thread in here somewhere that discusses GM's replacement of bad modules that expanded the scope of suitable replacements. Might want to look for that .

The search, or the searchee? lol.

GM has a TSB describing how dealers can now replace Section 1, 2, or 3 even if the chemistry of the replacement is different. It means an older Volt like my 2011 could use say a 2015 Section if that's what was in stock. Previously, if the chemistry did not match, you either needed the entire battery pack replaced, or where SOL if those were no longer available
