some general points -
- When I first started discussing this issue a few weeks ago in another thread, some posters thought that it was safe to assume that only Gen2 folks were having issues since their read of Voltstats made it seem like this. At that time I suppose it may have been possible that more Gen2 (as a %) were having issues, but, from one of my earlier polls, there was indication (very small data set though) that Gen1 even at that time also were experiencing issues. At some point then Gen2 started clearing up. From comments and votes that trickle in on this poll and thread, we can see clearly the issues are not so clear-cut. Both Volts have some drivers who are not readily able to get at their EV miles and related data, though so far in this small data set it appears Gen1 presently may be worse overall. This seems logical if Gen2 was recently partially cleared up.
- OnStar has been calling me here and there trying to clear things up and I appreciate their professionalism and desire to set things right, but they are going to have to pace themselves, as I just don't have time sometimes. Perhaps more importantly, when we consider the high percentage of people overall who still have issues (10 out of 19 as of this writing on this 2-week poll) to save the time of any one individual driver such as myself, my thought is it might be best if they cleared up any big lingering underlying issues affecting many drivers (such as they did do on some Gen2s) and then maybe work on those vehicles remaining where isssues persist.
- [addendum/edit] - going back to the apparent clearing up of some (but not all) Gen2 issues, this seems to come through a little bit, so far, with this poll, as compared to one I posted a couple of weeks ago or so [and acknowledging the small data sets and non-scientific polls, so the conclusions are not confident]. So, I think it's worth pausing to say this is a good thing and thanks to GM for taking that step.
