Hello all,

This is my first post on this forum but my ten thousandth on forums in general. I searched and searched and searched some more but could not find an answer to this particular question. Sorry if it is common knowledge but I have a 2011 Volt that I am fixing up and like the title states, when I press the Climate button on the center console the radio turns on. If I turn off the radio with the lower radial knob the Climate control screen goes away. This makes it so the radio has to be on if I want to play around with the climate control which I find strange. (I know I can turn down the volume.) The service writer at my local dealer insists that this is normal for a 2011 car but my 2013 Volt does not do this.

Is he correct?

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks. Seemed hard to believe the 2011 is so different from the 2013 but my Volt adviser said the same. Huh. Guess I'll have to live with it. I can see why they changed it.

I proposed a simple software fix involving controlling the volume, but without a lot more support from the Volt community, GM won't do it.

Just because the radio is powered on doesn't mean it has to play at the previously set volume.
