OnStar ran diags and found the following DTC P1EC6,P1EC4, and P1E00. Dropped the car off at the dealership. Got a call from service advisor that car won't be ready until Saturday. Something about some gloves weren't sent
with the part and won't get in until late in the afternoon. Got a call again later this evening saying that the gloves they received were expired. New date is Monday. Anyone know what is so special about the gloves?

This is my first American made car. I really love the car, however, this isn't a common occurrence with it.:(

Anti-electrocution gloves are kind of special, yes. :)

P1E00 is thrown for almost any problem. Basically, something is wrong.
P1EC6: Hybrid Battery Pack Heater Performance, Battery Heater is not performing as intended
P1EC4: Hybrid Battery Pack Heater Transistor Stuck Off, Constant Current or Constant Voltage

The hybrid/EV battery pack coolant heater is mounted to the coolant inlet on the back side of the hybrid/EV battery contactor assembly. The hybrid/EV battery pack coolant heater uses a 360 V power source. Requires EL-48900 HEV Safety Kit

It sonds like they have to open the HV wiring to change something. Even though there are several sets of safety interlocks that should keep live current away from people, OSHA standards call for gloves insulated against the voltage - GM uses special 1000V gloves for anything involving the High Voltage bus (which is in the 350-400V range when energized.) Gloves that are rated not to conduct with a thousand volts across them aren't common, cheap, or that durable.

Thanks for the information. I didn't realize they had expiration on the gloves. I miss my Volt. I actually had to pump gas for the rental. Once you've been off gas for a while, refueling is messy, stinky and expensive. :)

My Wife took our Volt in for a parking brake issue. The dealer provided her a rented Cadillac cause they had to keep the Volt overnight. They told her she would have to return the rental with a full tank of Gas... She told them she wasn't paying for Gas. They said everybody has to pay for gas on the Rental. She said 'I wouldn't have to be buying gas if I had my Volt!'. (Yeah Momma!). They thought about that for a minute, and said 'bring the gas receipt back and we'll mail you a check'... which they Did!

Ha, I was sooo proud of her! Good Job Momma!

Update: I got my car back today. DTC (P1EC4) Replaced battery coolant junction block and battery coolant purge. This involved dropping the battery to get to junction box. The long delay was due to dealer receiving what the supplier thought was new gloves but actually, had expired. I spent 30 minutes talking with the mechanic that did the work. I'm happy with the mechanic that worked on my car. He was very knowledgeable and insightful. Looks like my case was rare. Hopefully I'm good for 100k miles. I really love this car!! I want it to be successful.
