Finally, libs are putting their money where their mouths are. If you want to promote alternative fuel vehicles, and believe evil oil companies and evil auto companies are preventing it, then prove them wrong by doing it yourself. If libs are correct, then the automakers are leaving piles of cash on the table for them to take.

Its certainly an interesting approach. Instead of designing and building cars from scratch he just needs to buy existing ones and replace the engine with an EV system.

If it works its a great way to bypass about 85% of the time and cost of developing a new vehicle.

Seems he could just buy a stack of Prius's and install A123 batteries in them. If he could get volume discounts he might be able to get the final price < $30,000.

Wonder what the extended warranty would cost.

AMP is doing the same thing by purchasing Solstices for conversion. You thought about buying Prius's and performing A123 conversions for sale is a good one. I wonder why those conversion companies aren't doing that already? I've heard that they have special arrangements with Toyota dealerships to get cheaper prices of Prius's, but perhaps they don't want all the maintenance headaches.
