Cashed my $2000 "Drive Clean Rebate Program" check today. I applied at San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District about a month or so ago. Still waiting for the $1500 check from the state, but it's on the way. I just barely got it OK'd before the money started to run dry.

I'm a happy camper.

Just curious, are you required to get smog checks on ICE vehicles where you live?

Yeah, rub it in! I missed the cut-off by three days! Now I'm on a waiting list.

Yes, California requires smog checks on ICE cars. Presumably they'll be required on the Volt.

Yes, we have smog checks in CA, but I have a 3 year lease so fortunately I won't have to deal with it. I wonder how many back-alley smog shops are qualified to smog check a Volt.

They don't stick anything up the tail pipe of modern vehicles, they use the OBD2 port to read out the error codes. It's done during the annual safety inspection.
