Been a while since I've checked the forums and after about 5 months of volt/bolt ownership I did log in and searched a bit to see if others have noticed the same annoying thing:

1. In my wife's bolt you can't see the same level of detail in the XM radio....in my volt I can set alerts for specific artists, and even browse all channels and toggle what song is playing, artist name or station name so in a glance I can see what's on different stations without having to tune to them....this is one of the only reason I liked having XM. In my wife's bolt I can't do any of that, wtf? It's even worse, adding a station to favorites doesn't even let you know the name of the station, just the station number....is it shows xm8 and xm43 for the 80s and backspin channels....why the heck should I have to memorize that xm1726r826w5 is a certain channel, why not give the option to show the channel name? This is when channels are added to favorites to be clear, when browsing the whole list I can see station titles....but can't see what's playing on that station like in my volt....dumb they 'downgraded' the software in this way.

2. I love how the bolt Regen paddle can be used in conjunction with the accelerator to vary the amount of Regen. In my volt if you have the paddle pressed and then hit the accelerator the paddle Regen completely disables....again, wtf? When I first got my gen 2 this was a huge disappointment, and at least in the bolt they fixed it, but why the heck is the volt not the same way? I'd ask if there is a software update in the volt to make it work like the bolt, but I know that's about as likely as trump passing an IQ test (yeah, I went there.....)

To put in perspective, two minor issues, and still loving both cars. But as an engineer, these two things baffle me as to how they made it into the released products.

I have not really noticed those two issues, but the one that really bugs me on the Bolt is the radio presets. If you change the channel with the steering wheel toggle, it starts at the same channel each time, even if you were on a different one. Volt does not.
I wish low on the volt would stop without the brakes. It doesn't need to act like a slush box automatic. Be like the bolt and stop.

Don't know how your Bolt operates, but Volt regen is from main drive motor. So you hit the accelerator to use the SAME motor to drive the car and you expect regen to continue?? C'mon.
Perpetual motion, you can Regen and Drive at the same time. How cool would that be.

Somewhere I read that the infotainment system on the Bolt is a Korean piece, not the standard thing you find in a typical GM car. I have seen some other complaints about the look and feel and operation of the system. However, I don't own a Bolt and have only messed with the infotainment system during a demo. To me, in the limited time I used it, the system seemed a little awkward compared to the systems in my other GM cars. Some other Bolt/Volt owners should chime in here because I'm most likely off base here.

Just less regen if I give it some "gas". So you can modulate how fast you are slowing down.
Wouldn't a better system be to have the paddle analog rather than on/off? That's mostly what I hear people around here suggesting, but I haven't driven anything with the paddle personally yet.

Definitely agree on the analog, I was expecting it to be that way on the volt when it was announced. At least in the bolt you effectively get that analog operating feel in conjunction with the accelerator.

Not sure how your volt operates, but every time you drive in low you can feather the accelerator to vary the Regen. Since the paddle has slightly stronger Regen then low (and low already works in conjunction with the accelerator, it's just dumb that you can't use paddle + accelerator to vary Regen strength.

Totally agree about the bolt coming full stop in low or paddle. Its one of those things you don't really notice how much better it is until you experience it....but if I had to choose I would like to vary the paddle Regen. The way it works now you can never get a smooth stop with the paddle, it's pretty much useless except for the last 20 feet when you slow to a stop, but then you have to use the brakes anyway so what's the point.

Anyway, not to complain too much. Still love 99% of both cars. Just wish there was a way to have a software update fix these issues for the full 100% experience.
