  1. Wheels, Tires, Brakes - Gen 1 Chevy Volt
Today in went to the mandatory annual safety inspection here in the Netherlands. Every car of every owner here is inspected annually. My Volt did not pass the inspection. After the inspection you always get a report and have two weeks to fix things. The report indicated three things: 1. Rear...
  2. Generation 2 Chevy Volt (2016-2020)
I have had two occasions where I have started driving the car and the regenerative brake has been activated with out using the steering wheel paddle. When I started driving the ACCEL/BRAKE indicator indicated I was braking and you could feel the system braking. I stopped, turned the car off...
  3. Problems, Driver Warnings or DTCs - Gen 1 Volt
Ugh...so I took my car in for some body work at a local body shop. When they returned it, he said "the brakes don't seem to be working...be careful" to my son who picked it up. Well, the brakes were FAILED. Long story short, I had it towed to a local dealership in the northern Chicago area...
  4. Generation 1 Chevy Volt (2011-2015)
Hello all, I noticed a long trail of fluid and extremely low brake fluid levels. Long story short my 2013 Volt with 60,000 miles had a premature failure of the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve. A $2000 repair  After a sour and disappointing dealer experience with Home Motors in Santa...
  5. Mechanical Systems - Chevy Volt
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/culture/commuting/gm-develops-rust-free-rotors-to-keep-car-wheels-shiny/article11408699/ The first vehicle to benefit from FNC-treated rotors was the 2009 Cadillac DTS. It was followed in 2011 by the Chevrolet Impala, Malibu and Volt and the Buick...
  6. Generation 2 Chevy Volt (2016-2020)
Tried to search here, but didn't find anything. I finally had someone behind me that I could call and have them observe my brake lights. In short, paddle regen activates the brake lights, but "L" regen activates brake lights, also? I was surprised that L would do this. Are brake lights tied...
  7. Problems, Driver Warnings or DTCs - Gen 1 Volt
So, this is extremely disappointing, but it looks like our Volt is experiencing brake failures similar to those described in threads such as: http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread.php?249490-2013-Chevy-Volt-Brake-Failure Our story in a nutshell is as follows. My wife and I were hoping to make a...
  8. Problems, Driver Warnings or DTCs - Gen 1 Volt
Just in the last couple of weeks I've noticed an odd thing with my 2014. If it was there before, I didn't notice it. When I have the car in Park (and powered on) and I press the service brake pedal, I hear a clicking sound. It clicks once per press and is solidly repeatable. I can feel the...
  9. Problems, Driver Warnings or DTCs - Gen 1 Volt
Hi fellow volt owners! I just recently purchased a new to me MY2013. I love this car, but I do have a question. Every time I depress my brake pedal, I feel a click, like a spring is popping. Does anyone else feel this click through the brake pedal?
  10. Generation 1 Chevy Volt (2011-2015)
'12 with 34k miles, all good. Warranty expires in FIVE WEEKS. On the first stop of the day, which is not harsh at all, there's a fluttering or fast ticking noise coming from the right side of the car. The noise occurs just as the car comes to a stop. This occurs ONLY on the first stop. There...
  11. Problems, Driver Warnings or DTCs - Gen 1 Volt
:( I have had my 2013 Volt for 6 months, have about 12,000 miles on it. I have parked it in my driveway everyday since outside in the elements and charge it there. I just got back from a trip in Michigan, ( I live near Columbus, Ohio, 368miles round trip) which emptied the charge...

  13. Accessories, Apps, Modifications - Gen 1 Volt
My Volt creeps along even when it is at full stop if i do not engage the brake. I know this is a common condition for a gas car but the Volt should be dead still if i am stopped and don't have my foot on the accelerator - kind of like how you can not rev the engine in neutral...... I drive...
  14. Chevy Volt Engineering and Design
Hi, which type of E Parking Brake does the Volt have? The one where a motor pulls the cable to set the brakes or one that has a motor at each caliper to set the brakes? Tim.
  15. Suggestions for GM - Chevy Volt
Add an accelerometer to detect when the Volt is slowing due to driving in "Low mode" and make the brake lights turn on. (In addition to when pressing the brake pedal.) Kinda the same way as we don't have a "gas pedal" any more, the "brake lights" should be called "deceleration lights".
