Default Do home chargers include meters?

I conduct a real-world fuel economy survey, and will want to adapt it for electric and range-extended vehicles.

The problem is that I've been assuming that people will not know how much electricity they put into their cars, just like they have no idea how much goes into their refrigerator.

But is this actually not the case? Do any of the home chargers include a meter?

There's probably stuff you can get.

I'd imagine the car knows how much electricity was put into it.

I wonder if this will be the case. Otherwise, drivers will not know what level of effiency they're achieving.

If the sensors are not too expensive, it would be very nice if the Volt computer could keep track of electricity in and gasoline in.

I bought a Prius in 2004, and kept track of gasoline pumped every time for a few years, to see how the mileage was (the display only shows MPG for each tankful of gas, not lifetime of car).

I'm not sure how the data should be presented: MPG ? That would be interesting.
MP/kWh ? This could be calculated during CD mode, but how would regenerative braking (down a long, long hill) be handled ?

If the sensors are not a big deal (miles in CD mode, regenerated kWh, miles in CS mode, how much plug-in electricity used in the battery buffer during CS mode, etc), I'm sure GM could figure out some interesting ways to present the data.

Otherwise, just total MPG over the lifetime of the car would be nice.
