Another heavy handed approach to moving everyone to clean, abundant, renewable energy:

The author of this article simply wants government to tell everyone what to do.
There's no question that "defectors" can threaten investments in new tech, but to then suggest the opposite policy - increase regulation to force innovation - is worse.
When GM saw what Tesla Motors was doing, they identified a configuration, the REEV, that would be viable in the marketplace, but knew it wouldn't sell when priced double the amount for existing vehicles of similar performance. GM then cut a deal with the UAW and the federal government, to bring labor costs in line with foreign competitors with domestic factories and raise CAFE standards, so that the REEV would succeed in the marketplace.
THAT is how you solve problems.
