"Gov. Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states.

Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan's refusal to fire State Trooper Mike Wooten from the state police force was "likely a contributing factor" to Monegan's July dismissal, but Palin had the authority as governor to fire him, the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower states.

However, it states that her efforts to get Wooten fired broke a state ethics law that bars public officials from pursuing personal interest through official action.

The bipartisan Legislative Council, which commissioned the investigation after Monegan was fired, unanimously adopted the 263-page public report after a marathon executive session Friday. About 1,000 more pages of documents compiled during the inquiry will remain confidential, the council's chairman, state Sen. Kim Elton, said.

Sorry, I must have missed your post about how Nancy Pelosi was funneling PAC money to her husband's business . . .

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband's real estate and investment firm over the past decade, a practice of paying a spouse with political donations that she supported banning last year.

Can't say I'm too impressed with this woman. She used everyone's hatred of Bush for political gain. How bout that Palin though? She could be president some day, isn't that scary?

There is a reason that this story is getting no play. Even if she did what some accuse her of, the guy that she wanted fired was a son of a b*tch and deserved it. Considering he tasered his own son, amongst countless (apparently) other abuses, there are not many parents who would have probably wanted them same thing done. The man doesnt appear to have deserved to be in a position where he could inflect harm on others with impunity.

Even my most left friend, a female ***ish democrat, can look past this.

Sarah Palin is not scary, most conservatives can see past all the hype about her in the lib. press, she has more experince then Obama has and he's running for president, that's what really scary

I have to disagree with you about Palin. She absolutely personifies the worst aspect of the Republican campaign this cycle. Hard-line Republicans don't like McCain because he has occasionally had ideas of his own rather than mindlessly following the party line, so the campaign needed someone the hard-liners and fundies could get excited about. They got a little carried away and put someone up who's not ready for the national spotlight and certainly not ready to be next in line to run a first-world nation.

I confess that I wasn't on the fence beforehand... the guy who's running in a McCain suit isn't the John McCain I supported in 2000 and W's administration has been so detrimental to our country in so many ways we can't afford to just coast along with "slightly better than Bush" for 4 years. Had I been on the fence, though, I think Palin would have pushed me to the Democratic side of the fence. Her experience driving a small town deep into debt and running a state with a population about the size of a medium-sized city hasn't been all that impressive, and the way she hides from questions and then decries them as "gotchas" when someone actually asks her one is troubling. Joe the Plumber has held more press conferences than she has.

Palin is living like a princess on the dime of the RNC

$150,000 for clothes since she was picked plus 72 flights with her kids. This is just like when she installed tanning beds in her mansion in Alaska with tax-payer money. Brilliant choice, McCain campaign.

True Grit with John Wayne is on TCM tonight. I had forgotten how many classic lines JW and Kim Darby deliver regarding all things from Texas. From "Too much gun" and "Texas Brush popper" to "Small and bird brained" to "kneelers". I think he even slipped in a Pro Nuke line. :D Watch out for J. Noble Daggot.
